The Quran says:-
“Hotama”. Hotama means crusher, a breaker. So is atomic energy generated by crushing the binding of the atomic nucleus? This is a distinguishing characteristic of atomic energy and it crushes basic building block of the universe, and because it crushes the cell, the basic unit of life the atomic energy may be termed as absolute crusher.
The Quran says:-
“It leaps up onto the hearts’’.
So is the atomic energy generated by the act of particles leaping up onto the nuclei of atoms? The scientist himself calls the nucleus as heart in the standard textbooks of atomic physics, and thus when we call the atomic energy by its proper name that of nuclear energy we attest the truth of the fact of leaping up onto the hearts. This also is a distinguishing characteristic of atomic energy at among all other types of energy. The Quran says:-
“It is (a fire) closed in on them “. And so does the atomic radiation encompass mankind and life on earth through long-term genetic effects to future generations and would encompass the earth after having made life extinct, for millions of years.
The Quran says:-
“In outstretched columns”.
Outstretched column is a symbolical feature of the atomic bomb explosion. Radioactive particles too may due to their extreme littleness in comparison to the heights assumed by them be said to raise columns. The Alpha Particle rising to the height of four centimeters has traversed a distance equal to millions of times its own diameter. A football rising in air in the same ratio to its own size would rise far high into the outer space. And think of the columns of cosmic rays.
The Quran says:-
“What could teach thee what Al-Hotama is “?
Indeed so complex is the subject of nuclear science that the question; what could teach thee what nuclear science is, could well be put to the scientist, and his answer to this question will invariably be: nothing.
The Quran says:-
“Backbiter, defamer”. The change of the meanings of the word propaganda from mere propagation to intellectual calumny in this modern age bespeaks the truth.
The Quran says:-
“Amasseth wealth (of this world) and arrangeth it (against the future)”. And no better description of this modern, science-guided, machine-ridden, continuous, systematic, ever-increasing and infinite progress based on Bacon’s design of man’s dominion over nature for material utility through continuous, systematic research of science as the actual business of men on earth could be found.
The Quran says:-
“He thinketh that his wealth will render him immortal”. It means that he is so engrossed in the world and is so solicitous about the durability of the works of the world as if he thinks he has to live in this world forever. And thinks also that he will forever remain rich. The solicitude of the people of this age about the durability of the works of the world and their engrossment therein needs no comment.
The Quran says:-
“Nay, for verily he will be cast into Al-Hotama”. That is his hope of forever living and living rich is false. Both he and his wealth will be cast into Al-Hotama to be crushed therein. The appearance of atomic energy is the logical and scientific consequence of the modern process of atomism. The atomic energy has appeared on a particular point in the course of the research of science conducted for the acquirement of wealth in a systematic process. The three causes pointed out by the Quran have produced the atomic fire just as the three ingredients of gunpowder produce gun powder.
The adoption of atomic energy before giving means of protection against radiations to masses is against the dictates of science. The universal experiment of atomic energy on the principle of research cum utility is a leap into the atomic hell without far sight. Let the atomic energy be first made innocuous in the laboratory and then only recommended for use. The atomic energy and peace at present are contradiction in terms. But will the necessity of energy in the existing Economico-Industrial set-up allow mankind to wait.
